Walter T. (Tommy) Nelson, age 87 of Bethlehem, died Sunday, March 11, 2012 at Homestead Nursing Center in New Castle. He was born in Henry County and was the son of the late Justus and Martha Long Nelson. He was a farmer and a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church where he was a deacon. He was a United States Army Veteran of WWII and a lifetime member of VFW post 4075 in Frankfort. He is survived by his son: Ed Nelson (Suzanne) of Bethlehem; his daughter: Peggy Nelson of Frankfort; four brothers: Louis Nelson of Eminence, Donnie Nelson (Wilma) of Jeffersonville, Indiana, Ray Nelson (Betty) of Charlestown, Indiana, and Elliot "Suter" Nelson (Norma Jean) of Eminence; two sisters: Lois Jamison of Louisville and Ora Lee Jenkins (Dutch) of Charlestown, Indiana; two grandchildren: Abbie Nelson and A.J. Nelson, both of Bethlehem; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Caldwell Nelson, a brother, Clay Nelson, and a sister Katherine Jamison. Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at Sholar Funeral Home of Pleasureville. Rev. Delbert Butts officiated. Interment was in Pleasureville Cemetery.
