Virginia Frances (Kesler) Bohannon

Virginia Frances (Kesler) Bohannon, a beloved figure in the community and a cherished matriarch, passed away on December 8, 2024, at her residence in Pleasureville, Henry County, Kentucky, at the age of 100. She was born on December 7, 1924, in Shelby County, Kentucky to the late Paul Kesler and Carrie (Scobee) Kesler. 

For 21 years, Virginia dedicated her professional life to working for the state of Kentucky in the Department of Revenue. Her commitment to serving her state showcased her strong work ethic and unwavering dedication. Virginia was also a cherished musical talent, proudly serving as the pianist at Elmburg Baptist Church for over 50 years, where her beautiful music touched the hearts of many.

Virginia's passions extended beyond her career; she found joy in crocheting and quilting, crafts that allowed her to create lasting pieces for her family and friends. Her hobbies were not just pastimes but expressions of her creativity and love.

Virginia is survived by an adoring family, including her beloved six grandchildren: Timothy H. (Cheryl) Bohannon of Pleasureville, KY, Tina F. Travis of Pleasureville, KY, Rene' (Jack) Briley of Shelbyville, KY, Johnny K. (Kim) Bohannon II of Bagdad, KY, Lisa (Drane) Stephens, M.D. of Bagdad, KY, and Brian T. (Angie) Bohannon of Bagdad, KY. In addition, Virginia was the proud grandmother of nine great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren, who will carry on her spirit and memories.

She is reunited in death with parents, her loving husband: Harold Houston Bohannon, her two sons: Billy H. Bohannon and Johnny K. Bohannon, her four sisters: Lillian Ritchie, Cora Mae Tipton, Mildred Case Peak, and Elizabeth (Babe) Wilson and her daughter-in-laws: Reva Bohannon and Judy Bohannon.

Her family and community will remember her for the warmth of her spirit, the depth of her love, and her remarkable ability to bring people together through her music and kindness.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Sholar-Riley Funeral Home located at 5710 Castle Hwy, Pleasureville, KY 40057, followed by the funeral service at 1:00 PM, on the same day. Bro. Brad Jennings will officiate and burial will be in the Pleasureville Cemetery. 

Pallbearers will be Timothy Bohannon, Clay Bohannon, Chris Bohannon, Johnny Bohannon, II, Brian Bohannon and Grant Lyon.

Virginia's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
