Thomas Houston Mathus, Jr.

Thomas (Tom) Houston Mathus, Jr, age 73, of Shelbyville, died Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at his residence. He was born November 5, 1944 in Shelbyville to the late Thomas Houston Mathus, Sr. and Katherine Long Mathus. He worked as a truck driver and belonged to Pleasureville United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife: Sheryl Raisor Mathus of Shelbyville; three sons: John Thomas Mathus (Kim Showalter), Matthew Mathus (Stephanie), and Steven Mathus (Chasity), all of Shelbyville; three daughters: Teresa Hall (Steven), Anita Rice (Raymond Turner), and Lindsay Whitaker, all of Shelbyville; one sister: Peggy Foster (John) of Simpsonville; ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Samantha Mathus Cooper, and a great-grandson, Elijah Rice.

A celebration of his life gathering is scheduled for 1 p.m. Sunday, November 11, 2018 at the Pleasureville Community Center. Sholar Funeral Home of Pleasureville is in charge of arrangements.
