Rollie Thomas Armstrong, age 90 of Elmburg, KY Rollie Thomas Armstrong, age 90 of Elmburg, died Saturday May 18, 2013 at his residence. He was born in Franklin County, and was the son of the late Walter Thomas Armstrong and Bessie Lee McCarty Armstrong. He was an assistant foreman with the Kentucky State Highway Department for twelve years, a farmer, and member of Elmburg Baptist Church. He was a United States Army Veteran of World War II where his decorations included the European African Middle Eastern Ribbon with five Bronze Service Stars, the American Theater Ribbon, and the World War II Victory Medal. He is survived by one son: Roy Thomas Armstrong (Denise) of Oldham County; two daughters: Glenna Kay Armstrong-Mills of Shelbyville, and Jennifer Armstrong of Pleasureville; one sister: Dorothy Long of Shelbyville; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife: Evelyne Aldridge Armstrong; three brothers Alvin Armstrong, Murray Armstrong, and Cordell (Cordie) Armstrong; and three sisters: Louise Bohannon, Claudine Belt, and Julia Way. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at Sholar Funeral Home of Pleasureville with Rev. Michael Duncan, pastor of Eminence Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be in Pleasureville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time on Tuesday, May 21, 2013. Online condolences may be expressed at sholarfuneralhome.com.
