R. L. Wilson, Sr., age 76 of Pleasureville died Monday, December 20, 2021 at his home. He was born on June 18, 1945 to the late Lewis Wilson and Rachel Brewer Wilson. He was a special equipment operator for the KY Transportation Cabinet District 5. For many years many knew him by Big Dog (his CB radio nickname.) He was a Pleasureville City Commissioner for more than 25 years and belonged to Bagdad Baptist Church. He was also a United States Army Veteran.
R.L. is survived by two sons: Mark Christopher Wilson (Brenda) of Versailles and Robert “Bobby” Lewis Wilson, Jr. (Traci) of Frankfort; two daughters: Shannon Renae Smith (Jody) of Lawrenceburg and Arlene Michelle Cunningham of Frankfort; one brother: J.W. Wilson (Sue) of Jacksonville; one sister: Shirley Rowland (Verlon) of Ravenna; and six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers: Jimmy Wilson and Sonny Wilson and two sisters: Geraldine Niles and Gladys Wilson.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, December 27, 2021 at Sholar Funeral Home of Pleasureville. Burial will be in Bagdad Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, December 26, 2021 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and 10 a.m. until time of the service on Monday.
Honorary pallbearer will be Tyler Wilson. Pallbearers will be Robby Wilson, Greg Wilson, Travis Whisman, John Wilson, Jamie Wilson and Kade Wilson.
