Phyllis Jean (Rucker) Hedges, aged 84, passed away peacefully at her residence in Eminence, Henry County, Kentucky, on Monday, February 17, 2025. Born to the late Kenneth C. and Irene (Moberly) Rucker on April 24, 1940, in Henry County, KY.
Phyllis had a rewarding career as a caregiver with Tri-County Community Action, where she exhibited unwavering compassion for those in need. Additionally, she served as a school bus driver for Oldham County Schools, nurturing and guiding countless children as they journeyed to and from school.
Deeply rooted in her faith, Phyllis was a member of Sulphur United Methodist Church, where she found community and solace. Outside of her professional endeavors and community service, she enjoyed engaging in various hobbies, including shopping, reading, and savoring meals out, often bringing joy to those around her with her vibrant spirit.
Phyllis was a devoted mother to her two sons, Donald A. Hedges and Michael T. (Lois) Hedges, both residing in La Grange, KY. She also held dear her sister, Debbie (Don) Baird of Lexington, KY, and was blessed with five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, all who will greatly miss her loving presence.
She was preceded in death by her beloved spouse, Lester Adam Hedges, their son Ronald Keith Hedges (who was truly missed), and two brothers, Jerry Rucker and Jimmy Baker. Their memory will forever be a part of her legacy.
Visitation will be held at Sholar-Riley Funeral Home in Pleasureville, KY, on Monday, February 24, 2025, from 10:00 A.M. to noon, followed by a funeral service at noon. Bill Hedges will be officiating. Entombment will take place at Louisville Memorial Gardens East at 1:30 P.M. the same day.
Pallbearers will be Adam Hedges, Don Baird, Alyson Baird, Vinny Kemp, Darrell Hedges and Martha Duvall.
The family asks that friends and loved ones join them in celebrating the life of a remarkable woman whose love, kindness, and dedication to her family and community will be remembered fondly.
