Matthew Gene Porter, age 43, of Pleasureville, died Sunday, March 5, 2017 at his residence. He was born January 26, 1974 in Phoenix, Arizona. He was a member of the Pima Tribe of the Gila River Indian Community. He worked in building construction, and was a member of Cropper Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife: Heather Porter of Pleasureville; his mother: Regina Porter of Pleasureville; two daughters: Kylie Max Porter and Ashley Lynn Porter, both of Pleasureville; one brother: Gregory Porter (Holly) of Shelbyville; one sister: Jennifer Porter of Shelbyville; four nieces: Jade Rucker, Tatum Downey, Layla Porter, and Harper Porter; and one nephew: Jonathan Porter. He was preceded in death by his father: Jonathan Porter; and a nephew: Dillion Porter.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, March 9, 2017 at Sholar Funeral Home of Pleasureville. Rev. Irvin Porter of the Church of the Indian Fellowship in Puyallup, Washington, will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasureville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 8, 2017, and from 11 a.m. until time of services on Thursday.
Honorary pallbearers are Micah Lee Porter and Jonathan Porter. Active pallbearers are Paul Hughes, Joseph Richardson, Chris Nutter, Tony Davis, Monty Wood, and Steven Russell.
