Marshall (Uncle Marty) Lynn Bright, Jr, age 45 of Defoe, died Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at his residence. He was born October 12, 1972 in Louisville. He previously served as the Henry County Surveyor and currently worked as a surveyor with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He was a member of New Castle United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his mother: Rita Carol Payne Bright of Eminence; two sisters: Gina Lyle (Les) of Campbellsburg, and Tara LeCompte (Chuck) of Frankfort; his maternal grandmother: Martha Payne of Bethlehem; nieces and nephews: Will Lyle, Adam Lyle, Ethan Lyle, Tosha LeCompte Tillett (Trae), Brent Lecompte (Kirsten), Molly LeCompte, and Maddie LeCompte; and one great niece: Eloise LeCompte.
He is preceded in death by his father: Marshall Lynn Bright, Sr.; his maternal grandfather: Gayle Payne; and his paternal grandparents: Elbert and Nellie Bright.
Memorial services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, December 23, 2017, at Sholar Funeral Home of Pleasureville. Services will be officiated by Rev. Garry Polston and Rev. Cory Murashige. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, and from 10 a.m. until time of services on Saturday.
Honorary pallbearers Doug Beutel, Trent Plummer, Daryle Woolums, BJ Abner, Trae Tillett, Mike Bright, Steve Woods, Tom Noftsger, Jimmy McCowan, Chuck LeCompte, Les Lyle, John Mentis, and the WHHS Softball Team.
