Margie Blackaby Yeary, 80, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2024, in Bethlehem, Henry County, Kentucky. She was born on December 31, 1943, to the late Richard Blackaby and Drussilla Chisholm Blackaby in Shelby County, Kentucky. She devoted her life to community and family while nurturing her passions and talents.
Margie had a remarkable career as a cook at Cedarmore Baptist Camp, serving in this role for 17 years. Her hospitality extended beyond the camp, as she worked diligently at many local establishments including Burn's Grocery, Big Henry Restaurant, and Yeary's Sawmill. Margie was also known for her entrepreneurial spirit, contributing to her community by selling Avon products.
Her warm heart and nurturing spirit were brilliantly reflected in her engagement with Union Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher and a W. M. U. Leader. Margie's love for her faith and her church family was evident, as she dedicated her time to teaching and supporting others in their spiritual journeys. Beyond her community work, she found joy in collecting salt and pepper sets, delighting in the various designs that she curated over the years.
Margie is survived by four daughters, Melinda (Tracy) Thomas of Bardstown, KY, Loretta Quire of Eminence, KY, Serena Brown of New Castle, KY, Susan (David) Marlette of Bethlehem, KY, one son, Edward Allen (Jeanetta) Yeary of Frankfort, KY, along with 16 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren, all of whom will carry forward her legacy of love and care. Margie's vibrant spirit will also be remembered by several nieces and nephews, whose lives she touched deeply.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bobby Ray Yeary, three sisters: Lena Frances Hawkins, Emma Lee Suter, and Alma Elizabeth Smoot, three brothers: Richard Allen Blackaby, Johnny Oldham Blackaby, and Billy Morrison Blackaby. Each of them held a special place in her heart, and their memories will be cherished by those she leaves behind.
