Lindon Thomas (Tom) Payton, age 71 of Franklinton, died Friday, October 14, 2016 at Baptist Health of Louisville. He was born July 31, 1945 in Defoe, and was the son of the late Cecil and Ruby Speed Payton. He worked for the Kentucky Department of Corrections where he served as a Correctional Officer at the LaGrange Reformatory with the rank of Lieutenant. He was a member of Franklinton Baptist Church and served on the Board for Franklinton Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife: Donna Erwin Payton of Franklinton; three sisters: Helen Erwin (Larry) of Franklinton, Elizabeth Robinson of Grafenburg, and Anna Riggs of Shelbyville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, October 20, 2016 at Sholar Funeral Home of Pleasureville. Rev. Jacky Newton, pastor of Franklinton Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Franklinton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 and from noon until time of the service on Thursday.
Honorary pallbearers are Larry Erwin, Ronnie Bryant, Terry Tindle, Hubert Alton Payton, Marvin Rose, and Glenn Thomas Payton. Active pallbearers are James Baker, William Baker, Steve Tindle, Jim Robinson, Steve Rogers, and Gary Brown.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Franklinton Baptist Church, 7681 Point Pleasant Road, Pleasureville, KY 40057-9557.
