Leo Morris Yount

Leo Morris Yount, age 85, of Louisville, KY passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at the Masonic Homes of Kentucky in Louisville, KY. He was born on July 21, 1937, in Cropper, KY, Shelby Co., the son of Duard D. and Minnie Marie Stivers Yount. Leo was a member of Highview Baptist Church in Louisville, KY and served his country faithfully in the U.S. Army. He retired from Louisville Transportation after 38 years as Superintendent of Transportation for TARC and he enjoyed farming. He also was a Kentucky Colonel and a member of the Robinson-Plumb Lodge #266, F. & A.M. in Louisville, KY.

He is survived by his wife; Rhelda C. Shaw Yount of Louisville, KY, whom he married on September 30, 1960, one brother; Gary Curtis Yount of Cropper, KY, several nieces and nephews and several great nieces and great nephews. He is preceded in death by three sisters; Reva Yount, Julia Mae Phillips and Novella Marsee, and three brothers; Austin Yount, Kenneth Yount and Buddy Yount, and his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, February 4, 2023, at Sholar-Riley Funeral Home with Rev. Harry Connor Kaplan officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday, February 4, 2023, from 10:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M., at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Alzheimer’s Association in care of Sholar-Riley Funeral Home.
