James Thomas “Tommy” Brown, Jr., age 81 of Pleasureville died Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. He was born July 8, 1936 in Defoe, and was the son of the late James Thomas Brown, Sr. and Jesse Sanders Brown. He was a farmer and previously owned Sanders Cleaners in St. Matthews. He was a charter member of the Cropper Ruritan Club, where he was a member since 1960, and belonged to Elmburg Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and belonged to Middletown VFW Post # 1170, and the Zachary Taylor American Legion Post # 180.
He is survived by his wife: Patricia “Patsy” “Pat” Belwood Brown of Pleasureville; one son: James Burns (Mary Jo Bond) of Bethlehem; two daughters: Diana Dell Eldridge (Tom), of Pleasureville, and Patty Lee Porter (Fred) of Pleasureville; one brother: John David Brown of Nicholasville; six grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Carroll Reed Brown.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, June 1, 2018 at Sholar Funeral Home of Pleasureville. Reverend Brad Jennings, pastor of Elmburg Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasureville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, May 31, 2018 and from 11 a.m. until time of the service on Friday.
Honorary pallbearers include Dennis Giles, Vic Fallis, Ashley Chilton, Randal Craig, Ray Brewer, and Ronnie Craig. Active pallbearers include Micah Porter, T.J. Kelley, Tim Perkinson, Kevin Browning, Mike Gilbert, and Kevin Dyke.
Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of contributions to the American Diabetes Association, 161 St Matthews Ave. # 3, Louisville, KY 40207, or to the donor’s favorite church or charity.
