Geraldine B. “Geri” Moore Wheeler, age 86, formerly of Defoe, and later Frankfort, Kentucky and Marietta, Georgia, passed away on Monday, June 25, 2018 at her home. She was born on December 18, 1931 to the late John Clarence and Lillian May Smith Moore in Henry County, Kentucky.
Mrs. Wheeler had a long and successful career as a bookkeeper. She worked at the Youth Research Center, and later the Department of Revenue and Bob Bass, CPA, all in Frankfort, Kentucky. She also helped at her husband’s store.
Geri had a very generous heart and is remembered by all who knew her as a fabulous cook, especially her homemade banana ice cream. She loved animals and welcomed several special pets into her heart and home throughout her life. Geri was a member of the Defoe Christian Church.
Geri was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Orem A. Wheeler. She is survived by her son Grant (Anna) Wheeler of West Palm Beach, Florida, her daughter Crystal Wheeler (Mark Patmon) of Acworth, Georgia, several nieces and nephews, many special friends, and her much-loved caregiver, Lucy Njenga.
Funeral services are scheduled for 12:00p.m, Saturday, June 30, 2018, at Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville, Kentucky, with the Reverend Carl L. Rucker officiating. Interment will be in Defoe Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 – 12:00 at the funeral home.
