Estill Thomas, Sr., age 103 of Eminence, died Thursday, December 31, 2015, at the Masonic Home in Shelbyville. He was born October 15, 1912 in Lockport, and was the son to the late Mike and Emma Thomas. He had worked for the Army Corps of Engineers as a Lockmaster on the Kentucky River at Lock # 2 in Lockport, and was a United States Air Force Veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He is survived by his wife: Hazel Lambert Thomas of Eminence; one son: Estill Thomas, Jr. (Stephanie) of Eminence; six grandchildren: Denise Mathus of Frankfort, Ryan Arnold of Pleasureville, Carolyn Peffer of Lawrenceburg, Matthew Thomas of Eminence, and Lauren Thomas of Eminence; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Wanda Kay Arnold. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, January 3, 2016, at Sholar Funeral Home of Pleasureville. Rev. Paul Briscoe, pastor of Lockport Baptist Church, will officiate. Visitation will be 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday, January 2, 2016 and from 12 noon until time of service on Sunday. Burial will be in Pleasureville Cemetery. Pallbearers are Alan Truman, Brandon Marshall, Wesley Morrison, Mike Howard, Jason Suter, and Jamie Arnold.
