Brenda Kay Simpson

Brenda Kay Hartley Simpson, age 64, of Pleasureville, KY passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at her residence. She was born on October 20, 1958, in Tokyo, Japan, the daughter of William Lewis Hartley and Ethel Mae Alexander Hartley. Brenda was a member of Pleasureville United Methodist Church, was the worship committee and administration council chairperson, a Sunday school teacher and officer for the United Woman of Faith. She graduated from the University of Kentucky as a civil engineer and retired from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet. She loved to crochet, sew, craft and do canning and was a 4H volunteer.

She is survived by her husband; James Curtis Simpson, one son; Mark Anthony Arnold (Kelsey Kemper) of Pleasureville, KY, her mother; Ethel Mae Alexander Hartley of Versailles, KY, one sister; Rita K. Hartley Jones (Brian) of Columbus, Ohio, one brother; Richard K. Hartley (Millie) of Versailles, KY, four grandchildren; Kashton Kemper, Kreedon Kemper, Kadence Arnold and Adalynn Arnold, several nieces and nephews and her beloved pets; Mabel, Bailey, Mishka and Pearl. She is preceded in death by her father and two brothers; William L. Hartley, Jr. and Robert C. Hartley.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, August 12, 2023, at Pleasureville United Methodist Church with Rev. Jesse Landers officiating. Visitation will be on Friday, August 11, 2023, from 4:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M., and Saturday, August 12, 2023, from 11:00 A.M. until time of the service, at the church. Burial will be in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers will be A.J. Bates, Lewis Hartley and Mark Arnold. Pallbearers will be Chris Hall, Ben Hartley, Justin Kelly, Jaden Kelly, Louie Driskell, Jeremy Wells, Rick Hartley and Jared Wells.
