Amanda Catherine Stivers Adler, age 94, formerly of Bethlehem, died Saturday, July 16, 2016, at the Masonic Home in Shelbyville. She was born January 3, 1922, and was the daughter of the late Edgar and Effie Baker Stivers. She was a homemaker, wrote for the Bethlehem Community News, and worked at the Bethlehem Nativity Scene. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir, and taught Sunday School and Bible School.
She is survived by two sons: Ricky Adler (and wife Judy), and Phil Adler, all of Pleasureville; one daughter: Venita Adler Turner (and husband Kenny) of Frankfort; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Richard L. Adler; one son: Larry; two brothers: Gilmore and Calvin; and five sisters: Edith, Thelma, Agnes, Dorothy, and Ramona.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 20, 2016, at Sholar Funeral Home of Pleasureville. Rev. Dave Hamlin and Rev. Jesse Baxter will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 19, 2016, and from 10 a.m. until time of services on Wednesday. Burial will be in Pleasureville Cemetery.
